Cluster Stitch (cl)

A group of partial stitches worked into the same space and joined at the top to create a textured, bobble-like effect.

A cluster is a set of “unfinished” stitches that are all closed together at once.

How to do it (e.g., 3-dc cluster)

  1. Partial Stitches: Work a double crochet into the next stitch, but stop before the final yarn over (2 loops left on hook).
  2. Repeat: Work a second partial double crochet into the same stitch (3 loops on hook).
  3. Repeat: Work a third partial double crochet into the same stitch (4 loops on hook).
  4. Join: Yarn over and pull through all loops on your hook.

Visual Effect

Clusters create a teardrop-shaped puff of texture that is more substantial than a single stitch but flatter than a popcorn stitch.
